IntelliTrans and its parent company Roper Technologies walk the walk when it comes to environmental, social and governance, and they’re helping their own customers follow suit.
Focused on reducing their carbon footprints, companies across the board are paying closer attention to environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards. They’re also under extreme pressure to get their customers’ orders delivered as they grapple with an ongoing pandemic, rising transportation rates, a labor shortage and persistent supply chain disruptions.
Navigating this “perfect storm” of challenges isn’t easy, but technology partners like IntelliTrans can ease some of the burden and help companies tackle their current issues while also preparing them for future success. Along with providing high levels of supply chain visibility that support companies’ carbon footprint reduction goals visibility goals, IntelliTrans helps them stay compliant with rules and regulations for shipping—a benefit that supports good governance.
From a social responsibility standpoint, IntelliTrans ensures greater operational fluidity (e.g., for trucks moving in and out of a facility), in a way that not only supports the environment, but that also reduces the number of moves needed, cuts down on empty miles and supports the communities surrounding those facilities. When trucks aren’t lined up on the road, waiting to get into a distribution center, for example, the positive impacts on the community around it can be significant.
Ken Sherman, president at IntelliTrans, also points to Roper Technologies’ (IntelliTrans’ parent company) own ESG efforts as proof of the overall organization’s commitment to environmental, social and governance.
In fact, Roper has laid out a strong commitment to conducting its global business in a legal, ethical and socially responsible manner. It recognizes the importance of environmental, social and economic sustainability, and is dedicated to ethical business and governance practices in all areas of its operations.
“Our companies conscientiously conduct business with continued regard for the health and safety of our employees and the communities in which we operate and serve,” Roper points out in its Corporate Responsibility statement.
Coming Together to Take Action
Understanding that ESG goes beyond operating in a more environmentally-sustainable manner, Roper and its family of businesses also promote the health and safety of their employees, customers and members of the communities in which they operate.
That means ensuring that its operations meet or surpass applicable environmental health and safety (EHS) laws and regulations; promoting the development of products and solutions that enable customers to reduce emissions, protect and preserve water resources and support public health; and cultivating a workplace focused on preventing accidents and injuries, where hazards are identified and addressed, and where employees are active in promoting safety.
Roper is also a part of OneTen a coalition of 37 CEOs and organizations committed to upskilling, hiring and promoting one million Black Americans over the next 10 years into family-sustaining jobs with opportunities for advancement. Roper’s CEO, Neil Hunn serves on both the Board of Directors and the Advisory Board for OneTen.
“In this moment when all Americans share an aspiration for greater economic opportunity, leading executives and employers across industries are taking action to make a meaningful, measurable and lasting systemic impact on racial and economic justice and to create a more equitable society,” the organization states. “OneTen connects employers with talent partners, leading non-profits and other skill-credentialing organizations that support the development of diverse talent.
OneTen says it has set out to change the way companies provide more equitable environments to drive better business outcomes and benefit all employees. The organization is cultivating an ecosystem that brings together major employers, in partnership with the nation’s leading non-profits and other skill-credentialing organizations, to create a more flexible talent pipeline and practices that will allow employees and employers to thrive by shifting to a skills-first paradigm.
In January 2021, the organization began working with partner employers to improve workplace inclusivity practices and will soon begin connecting talent providers to partner employers.
